Women's 53kg Snatch - Li Yajun

China’s Li set a new Olympic record in the snatch, raising 101kg above her head on her second lift, but she failed to register a clean and jerk in her three attempts and did not finish in the top three

Men's 56kg Clean & Jerk, Combined– Long Qingquan

Chinese weightlifter Long Qingquan broke a 16-year-old world record taking a second career Olympic gold in the men's 56kg-category in Rio. Long lifted a combined total of 307kg to break a record dating back to the 2000 Sydney Games. The 25-year-old, who won gold in Beijing eight years ago, dramatically set a new Olympic record of 170 kg with his last attempt in the clean and jerk. Long's combined total weight was two kgs better than Halil Mutlu of Turkey's record of 305 kg set Down Under.

Women's 58kg Snatch - Srisurat Sukanya

Thailand's Sukanya Srisurat, who previously served a two-year ban for doping, lifted an Olympic record 110kg in the snatch and 130kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 240kg, beating the silver medallist by 8kg.

Women's 63kg Clean & Jerk, Combined - Deng Wei

China’s Deng Wei won Olympic gold and set a world record in women's weightlifting. The Chinese lifter hoisted 147 kg in the clean and jerk and 115 in the snatch for a world-record total of 262. Deng's clean and jerk lift also broke her own world record by 1 kg.

Men's 77kg Snatch - Lyu Xiaojun

Chinese weightlifting superstar Lu Xiaojun set a new snatch world record in the men's 77kg weightlifting. He hoisted 177 kg to beat his own record of 176 kg, set in 2013. But a record effort in clean & jerk by Nijat Rahimov meant Xiaojun had to settle for silver

Men's 77kg Clean & Jerk - Nijat Rahimov

Rahimov smashed the clean and jerk world record by 4 kg to stun Chinese superstar Xiaojun and grabbed Olympic gold in the men's 77kg weightlifting. Rahimov lifted 214 kg to add to his snatch score of 165, making a combined total of 379

Men's 85kg Clean and Jerk – Tian Tao

Silver medallist Tian Tao for China lifted 217 kg in the clean and jerk to set the Olympic record before gold medallist Kianoush Rostami of Iran lifted the same weight and then proceeded to break in own world record.

Men's 85kg Combined - Kianoush Rostami

Iranian Kianoush Rostami hoisted a record-equalling 217 kg with his final clean and jerk for a record total of 396kg, beating his world record by 1 kg.

Men's 105kg - Ruslan Nurudinov

Weightlifter Ruslan Nurudinov, known as the "Pride of Uzbekistan", struck gold in the men's 105kg class with an Olympic record. The 24-year-old raised a combined total of 431kg above his head to win by a massive 14 kg over 19-year-old silver medallist Simon Martirosyan of Armenia. Nurudinov, who already had gold assured, lifted 237 kg in clean and jerk to set a new Olympic record
