How Relebohile Mofokeng Guided Mohau Nkota from Orlando Pirates to the Saudi Pro League

Mohau Takatso Nkota, the 20-year-old South African forward, is quickly making a name for himself at Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League. Since joining the club, he has scored important goals, including on his debut against Al-Kholood in a 2-1 win. Nkota’s journey from Kimberley to Saudi Arabia was not easy. Moving as a teenager to Orlando Pirates, he faced homesickness and pressure. But thanks to his teammates, especially Relebohile Mofokeng, and mentors like coach Mandla Qhogi, he built the confidence to succeed.In 2021, Mohau Nkota moved from Kimberley to join Orlando Pirates, a significant change for the teenager. Nkota shared that Mofokeng encouraged him to be confident and not fear making mistakes.He recalled, “He used to tell me: ‘Don’t be scared. Do anything you want to do. This is the first team… We all play; we all work [together], so if you make a mistake - if you lose the ball - it’s fine. We’ll get it back. Just do your thing. Don’t be scared of these guys and what they say. Nkota's first game for Al-Ettifaq saw a goal, therefore beginning his Saudi Pro League career strong. His constant performances kept wowing, especially a memorable performance in a 0-0 tie versus Al Ahli. Nkoter's performance stood out even in difficult matches, therefore receiving accolades from both fans and teammates. Thinking over his life, Nkota thanked mentors like Mofokeng and Mohapi for their help.
