KARACHI: The Pakistan Tennis Federation will seek compensation from the ITF for making their
Davis Cup rubber against Hong Kong an away tie due to the volatile security situation.
After returning from a meeting of the Asian TennisFederation, PTF President Dilawar Abbas said the ATF also supported Pakistan'smove to seek compensation.
The tie against Hong Kong was due to beheld next March in Lahore but the ITF has shifted the matches to Hong Kong dueto the volatile security situation in Pakistan.
This is the thirdtime this year that Pakistan has lost the chance to host a Davis Cup tie due tosecurity concerns.
Earlier in the year, the Davis Cup tie againstOman was also shifted to Muscat and the ties against Phillipines moved toManila.
As per ITF Davis Cup committee rules, due to shifting of thevenue, Pakistan automatically loses choice of surface and the same thing hashappened in the case of the encounters against Hong Kong.
"We havesuffered an estimated loss of $50,000 due to the shifting of the Davis Cupmatches and we intend to seek compensation from the ITF," Abbas said.
He said Pakistan had also talked about compensation with the ITFover the shifting of the Davis Cup ties against Oman and Phillipines but thistime the positive thing was that the ATF was supporting Pakistan.
