Serena Williams is continuing her return to professional tennis, with another tournament now added to her schedule. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, who stepped away from the sport in 2022, will compete in doubles at the Berlin Open, which begins on June 13.
Tournament organisers confirmed her participation, although details about her partner and first match date will be announced later.
Before heading to Berlin, Williams is set to make her comeback in doubles at Queen’s Club next week, where she will team up with Victoria Mboko.
The Berlin event follows a week later, while Wimbledon is scheduled two weeks after that.
Despite the growing list of tournaments, Williams has not yet confirmed whether she plans to play at Wimbledon or the U.S. Open.
Speaking about her latest commitment, Williams said, “Every tournament I add to my schedule right now feels special, and Berlin is no exception. I'm excited to compete in front of the German fans and continue building momentum throughout the grass-court season.”
Fans have been eagerly waiting to see Williams back on court since her departure from tennis three years ago.
For now, her return is focused on doubles competition, with appearances at Queen’s Club and Berlin offering a chance to regain match rhythm during the grass-court season.
Her participation in these events has also fueled speculation about whether she could make further appearances at some of tennis’ biggest tournaments later this year.
