Despite the fan sentiments hugely being with John Cena to winning the Elimination Chamber and going on to the main event of WrestleMania 41, a different creative direction calls for Cena to end up on the losing end of the match.
The year 2025 will have all eyes on John Cena’s highly publicised farewell tour, which officially kicked off on the debut edition of RAW on Netflix. Cena wrestled his first match on the tour by entering the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match at the namesake event last week. Despite the overwhelming crowd support for him, WWE chose to book Jey Uso to win the Rumble match.
However, John Cena brushed off the defeat quickly and announced his entry into the Men’s Elimination Chamber match next month as another opportunity to main event his last WrestleMania for a 17th World Championship. While a lot of fans would like to see that happen, here are the three reasons John Cena should not win the Elimination Chamber match:
3. A younger talent could benefit from the opportunity more than John Cena
For any WWE superstar, main eventing WrestleMania for a World title is the pinnacle of sports entertainment. It is known to change careers and elevate top-calibre superstars to the next level. John Cena has already done that countless times, and with him being on the last leg of his career, he does not need that spot. Instead, upcoming talents like Bron Breakker or Drew McIntyre can benefit from the opportunity to compete in the main event of WrestleMania 41 for a World Championship.
2. John Cena could wrestle a younger star at WrestleMania 41 instead of being in a title match
As John Cena is on the final run of his WWE career, many young and hungry superstars are eyeing a one-on-one showdown with him to etch a marquee match in their careers. Cena could use the opportunity to compete in a singles match with a rising talent instead of his own World Championship aspirations to help build a star on the Grandest Stage of them All, thereby losing the Elimination Chamber match.
1. A long way to go in the farewell tour
John Cena’s farewell tour has just begun and will continue to run for an entire year. This means that Cena has countless stages and opportunities to win his 17th World Championship, so not winning the Elimination Chamber should not be a problem. Instead, the logical decision could be Cena winning the 17th World title in his final match of the farewell tour and retiring as a World Champion to have the perfect storybook ending to his illustrious career.
