WWE is gearing up to begin the road to WrestleMania 41 with the first Premium Live Event of 2025, Royal Rumble. The event will take place at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, Indianapolis on February 1st and is expected to become a stellar event, setting the tone for the rest of the year for the company.

The weeks leading up to the WWE Royal Rumble event have seen some interesting developments take place. From a star-studded field competing in the Men’s Rumble match to a heated rivalry set to culminate, here are the three storylines to know before watching the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 show:


3) Cody Rhodes & Kevin Owens months of heated feud


The former friends turned heated foes, Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens, have been engaged in a feud for months over the Undisputed WWE title. Moreover, Owens also took possession of the Winged Eagle WWE title at Saturday Night’s Main Event from Rhodes following their match. Their rivalry is expected to conclude at the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 show in a ladder match, with both the WWE title hanging above the ring and the person to get the belt becoming the champion.

2) Men’s Royal Rumble field


The Men’s Royal Rumble has been shaping up to be one of the star-studded fields in the history of the match. The first entrant to be announced was none other than 16-time WWE Champion John Cena. Following suit, Roman Reigns was the next to enter in hopes of regaining the Undisputed WWE Championship. Next, top-tier stars like Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre and LA Knight threw their name in the hat. With the stakes higher than ever, this match is surely going to be a highlight for the night in Indianapolis.

As mentioned, John Cena was the first person to declare himself for the Men’s Royal Rumble match as part of his farewell tour. The Face that Runs the Place looks at it as his final opportunity to earn a World title shot at his final WrestleMania in Las Vegas and become a 17-time WWE Champion. With the fans' unwavering support and speculations regarding a match against Cody Rhodes for the title at Mania, it is expected that Cena could walk away the winner.
