5 Worst Decisions Current/Former WWE Superstars Made in 2024

WWE superstars have to make a lot of tough decisions, both inside the ring and outside it. These decisions sometimes prove to be of the utmost importance and have the potential to make or break a wrestler’s career. We’re talking about everything from retiring, to pushing for a particular match, all the way to teaming up with the wrong people. However, as we are all well aware, not all decisions made by these superstars end up going their way.
Some end up crashing and burning, while others go on to have some major regrets. Today, we’re diving into five of the worst decisions that current and former WWE superstars have made in 2024. Let’s get into it.

Earlier this year, WWE Superstar John Cena announced that he would retire from in-ring competition at the end of 2025. While we still have a year left of Cena, fans have not been happy about his decision to step away from the ring. This is to be expected considering John has been on top of the WWE for close to two decades. Moreover, during that period, Cena has formed a special connection with his fans.
So, it was hard for the same fans to hear that Cena will be hanging up his boots. Even from an objective point of view, Cena’s retirement doesn’t feel right. He is a 16-time WWE World Champion and still has a lot left in the tank, and for him to step away from all of that definitely feels like one of the worst decisions of 2024.


A few months ago, WWE’s former star Ricochet announced to the world that he would be taking his talents to the AEW. While this looked like a splendid move for his career, it has actually been the other way around. During his time in WWE, Ricochet had already won the IC title, the United States title, The NXT Championship and looked set to have a world championship run in the future.
However, Ricochet’s skills on the mic left a lot to be desired. Now, if he had stuck to WWE, this is something that he could’ve worked on and improved. But, now that Ricochet is in AEW he has to make do with his mediocre promos and so far he has struggled to convince the fans that he deserves to be a world champion. This wouldn’t have been a problem if he had stuck with WWE.
Ricochet is an excellent entertainer with freak athleticism allowing for some amazing high-flying moves. However, because of his decision to leave WWE, Ricochet’s popularity has waned and his skills on the mic are now unlikely to improve. In hindsight, what looked like a golden opportunity has instead been a terrible decision for Ricochet.


This Monday, WWE was made aware of Samantha Irvin’s decision to leave the company. PWInsider confirmed that Samantha had put down her resignation and will soon take her leave. It is being reported by various outlets that Samantha is leaving her job as WWE’s announcer to pursue a career in music, which is her passion.
However, what Samantha might have failed to realize is that she was gaining a lot of fame thanks to her work in WWE. The fans love Samantha so much that if she had stuck to her job for a couple more years, she could have been a household name. But, now that she has left prematurely, there is a big chance that Irvin might struggle to launch her career in music. Hopefully, that doesn’t end up being the case, but if it doesn’t then Samantha’s decision to leave easily becomes one of the worst decisions of 2024.


Back in February, Cody Rhodes made an announcement suggesting that The Rock would be facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 instead of him. Now, Cody has always been one for the people, so the decision to replace him did not sit right with the fans. While The Rock is hailed as one of the greatest of all time, not many wanted to see him replace Cody in WrestleMania 40’s main event.
Once the fans got wind of the situation, they immediately began protesting on social media. The phrase “#WeWantCody” was plastered all over the internet and ultimately led to WWE announcing that Cody would be the one facing Roman at WM. Now, The Rock has always been loved by WWE fans. However, his decision to try and replace Cody turned millions against him and is one of, if not the worst decision he has ever made as a professional wrestler.


Rhea Ripley returned to WWE back in July and immediately upon her return, Dominik Mysterio left Liv Morgan’s side and joined Ripley again. However, letting Dom back into her life turned out to be a huge mistake for Rhea Ripley, as “Dirty Dom” ended up betraying her during SummerSlam 2024.
Now, two months after SummerSlam 2024, Ripley is still stuck as she tries to exact revenge on both Dom and Morgan. Unfortunately for Rhea, all her attempts so far have been in vain. Despite being such a powerhouse, Ripley has had to face a lot of humiliation because of Dominik Mysterio. If it wasn’t for him, Ripley could’ve easily been the champ right now. Clearly, her decision to trust Dominik again is amongst the worst decisions made by WWE superstars in 2024.
