Adam Copeland aka Edge Still Cannot Get Over The WWE Live Celebration After His Championship Win

It was the year 2006, and things changed in the world of WWE in a way no one ever expected, including the one who changed it. Adam Copeland, aka Edge, won the WWE Championship back in 2006, and the very next night, he was back inside the ring with his on and off-screen girlfriend at the time - the WWE powerhouse, Lita. The WWE Live Sex Celebration is still something fans cannot forget, and neither can Copeland for that matter.

Adam Copeland still gets uneasy about the celebration

Adam Copeland winning the WWE Championship was a big milestone for his career. Edge, which is his stage name, was beyond happy with this achievement. But things took a turn when he was told to take part in a Live Sex Celebration inside the ring with Lita. Speaking on Stephen Brunt on Up Close, Copeland said:


"I think about the night after I won the title for the first time. ‘You’re gonna have a live sex celebration.’ Really? What does that mean? What is that? What are you talking about?"


Unlike Lita, who made revelations about the incident a few years ago, Copeland did not put Vince McMahon on the spot, saying that the celebration was not his idea.


"To be fair, it wasn’t [Vince] that presented the idea to me, and I don’t think it was his idea, but he’s the boss and he signed off. Now, I’m going, okay, I just won the world title, this is really what I wanted to accomplish in the industry, because that’s when you feel like, ‘I did it.’ They’ve gone this far with me now, I made this bed and now I have to lie in it and make it work. On live television."


He felt compelled to go with it, as he did not want to disappoint those who had backed him for so long in his career. But Lita had a different experience with this whole celebratory event.

Lita was threatened, but Edge has a different fear

Lita did not want to take part in a controversial segment like this and tried her best to get out of it. Even John Cena, Adam Copeland, and quite a few crewmates tried to stop it from happening. But allegedly, WWE allegedly threatened to fire her if she didn't comply. In a Twitch stream, she said that even after all their tries, they went ahead and did it since Vince McMahon liked the idea and had signed off on it.


Edge though, did not say anything about getting threatened to be fired. But now that he is a family man with kids, there is one thing that makes him a little fearful.


"Now that I have two kids, just dreading the day that pops up. At the same time, what I try to do, ‘Okay, it’s a character.’ If you watch an action movie, there is probably going to be a sex scene. It is there in other forms of entertainment. In that regard, why can’t it be in wrestling? I would have preferred if it wasn’t me."


Hopefully, his kids don't come across this celebration of their father and do not ask him about it in the future. All the best, Edge!
