WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who was escorted to the ring by his wife Brandi Rhodes, recently thought back on his iconic entrance at WrestleMania 40. This was a big deal because Brandi had only watched his first matchup with Roman Reigns from ringside at WrestleMania 39. A year later, though, she took center stage when she accompanied her husband into his eagerly awaited rematch with The Tribal Chief.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Cody Rhodes shared the details behind the decision to include Brandi in his WrestleMania 40 entrance. He revealed that the idea was orchestrated by three key figures: Bruce Prichard, Triple H, and Nick Khan. Rhodes expressed his gratitude towards them for recognizing the importance of Brandi's presence.
"You got to kind of relate back to or credit back to Triple H and Nick Khan and Bruce Prichard," Rhodes said.
"They understood there's a difference between, 'Hey, I want to get my buddy on the show' or 'Hey, this is a friend but it's really a niche market that might understand it.' They understood what I was just telling you earlier that this has been lived out loud in front of them. She's a huge part of that, a massive part of that. She's not a 'stand behind you' type, she's a 'stand next to you' type, so it was very nice that they wanted that to happen."Rhodes emphasized how meaningful it was for him to have Brandi by his side, highlighting her integral role in his career and their shared journey in the wrestling world. He described his WrestleMania 40 entrance as his favorite of all time, citing its simplicity and emotional significance.
"Yeah, it's my favorite entrance ever," he added.
"And it's very simple, minus the pyro, it's relatively cost-effective."In addition to Brandi's involvement, Rhodes also discussed another creative aspect of his entrance. He revealed that Jason Baker, known for designing The Fiend's iconic mask, assisted him in creating the American Nightmare mask he wore to the ring. This mask was inspired by the tattoo on his neck, adding a personal touch to his entrance and symbolizing his wrestling persona.
Overall, Cody Rhodes' WrestleMania 40 entrance was a standout moment, combining personal significance, professional collaboration, and creative design. It showcased the importance of his relationship with Brandi and the collaborative efforts behind the scenes to create a memorable and impactful experience for the fans.
Cody Rhodes’ Epic WWE WrestleMania Entrance With Brandi Rhodes By His Side
Cody Rhodes' entrance during Night 2 of WWE WrestleMania 40 was nothing short of a spectacle. For his second attempt at claiming Roman Reigns' Undisputed Universal Championship, Rhodes made a dramatic entrance, wearing a skull mask reminiscent of his idol-turned-boss Triple H.
He ascended in his signature Cody-Vator and was accompanied by his wife, Brandi Rhodes, marking the first time she had joined him since his return to WWE. The titantron displayed the "American Nightmare" flags surrounded by flames, emphasizing that this night would be his final stand against Reigns. Overwhelmed with emotion, Rhodes struggled to sing along to his theme music, as was his usual practice.
Once at ringside, Rhodes took a moment to acknowledge his mom and sister, who were present with Brodie Lee's son, all eagerly watching as he aimed to finally conclude his storied journey.
