Is Cody Rhodes Still Injured? The American Nightmare Finally Opens Up About Injuries Post-WWE Royal Rumble 2025
Kevin Owens had stolen the famed Winged Eagle belt Triple H gifted to Rhodes for “one night only” after attacking him with a package piledriver at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Rhodes made it clear that he wanted to face Owens in a match where the referee couldn't stop him.
Cody Rhodes has finally addressed his physical condition after a grueling ladder match against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble 2025 Premium Live Event.
Cody Rhodes has proven himself to be a fighting champion ever since he won the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40. His latest title defense saw him engage in an intense ladder match against Kevin Owens at the 2025 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event.
The match saw both men endure immense physical pain, death-defying spots, and jaw-dropping moments. At the end of an evident blood bath, it was Cody Rhodes who retained his championship. While Kevin Owens was being helped by the WWE officials at the end of the match, Rhodes walked out on his own.
But it was clear that he had himself suffered multiple injuries, which was later confirmed by WWE backstage interviewer Jackie Redmond. Now, The American Nightmare has broken the silence on his physical condition.

How has Cody Rhodes’ physical condition been post-WWE Royal Rumble 2025?

As fans saw, Cody Rhodes did not even make an appearance at the Royal Rumble 2025 post-show conference due to the injuries sustained. Days after the event, The Prodigal Son took to his Instagram stories to shed light on his physical condition.
Rhodes stated that he had been in bed for two days, undergoing complete rest after the Royal Rumble event. However, he did mention that he was feeling better and was ready to appear in Memphis, Tennessee, which is the sight of the upcoming SmackDown, and was happy to walk out of the physical battering ladder match in one piece.

“2 days in bed essentially but feeling good and ready for Memphis! Also, since I got through it🪜in one piece I got to keep the best promise…”
Cody Rhodes went through some of the most dangerous spots in the ladder match, including when Kevin Owens dropped him on his neck from the top of the ladder. This could easily be called one of his most physical matches in WWE so far.

What can be next for Cody Rhodes on the road to WrestleMania 41?

Cody Rhodes will now be looking towards the road to WrestleMania 41, as he is expected to walk into The Show of Shows as the Undisputed WWE Champion. The American Nightmare is likely to be featured in the show's main event match.

On the other hand, the 2025 Royal Rumble match winner, Jey Uso, is not expected to pick Rhodes as his opponent. This is due to some previous reports that WWE is planning a blockbuster match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena. With the WWE Elimination Chamber being the next Premium Live Event, it will be interesting to see things unfold on the road to WrestleMania 41.
