Nikki Garcia Wants Her Groove Back Before Jumping Into the Dating Pool
Speaking to
Us Weekly, the 41-year-old reality star opened up about her post-divorce journey and how body image insecurities are playing a role in her dating life. The retired wrestler stated on Wednesday that while it won't "be anytime soon," "I can definitely see myself falling in love again."
She further explained, "It’s going to take me a while to get back in that place and also to just feel confident about my body.I feel great, but it’s, like, when I’m naked, you just kind of sadly start to dissect yourself.” The athlete, who previously went by her stage name, Nikki Bella, added. “What if the person isn’t a dad and he doesn’t understand a ‘mom bod?'”
Garcia, who gave birth in July 2020 to a 4-year-old son named Matteo, fears that if she "date[s] someone younger," he will assume, "Oh, she has an older body."
"I'm not going to just give that up," the former Total Bellas star, who also believes her "boobs kind of sag from nursing," stated. For [dating], I have to be in a nice setting. First and foremost, Mama needs to get back into her groove. Garcia stated in other parts of the interview that she will never marry and "definitely" won't have any more children. She declared, "I never want to sign documents again." "I don't mind [a commitment ceremony] if I find the right person, but I don't want to be legally [bound]."
The WWE personality gave the explanation that she is "getting back to [her]self finally" as to why she does not envision herself with Matteo as a sibling. "I'm just coming out of the toddler years, and I don't want to go back," she joked. I'm hanging out at the playground and sipping cold beer. That's a lot! Garcia married 42-year-old Chigvintsev two years after Matteo arrived in Paris.
After her partner was arrested on suspicion of causing physical harm to a spouse, the former Total Divas star filed for divorce in September 2024. In November 2024, the former couple reached a divorce settlement and co-parenting agreement after the dancer denied any wrongdoing and the charges were dropped. The following month, Garcia spoke out during an episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, her and her sister Brie Garcia's podcast.
In December 2024, Nikki described co-parenting with the Dancing With the Stars pro as "really hard and very emotional," claiming that she breaks down in tears "every time" Matteo leaves. On Wednesday, she reiterated the "very difficult" experience and admitted that she and Chigvintsev spent Christmas together for the sake of their child. "Matteo is unaffected and doing fine. Thus, it's simple," Nikki stated. "He enjoys visiting both houses."
