Professional wrestling, by the look of it, requires a decent physique as it has been the game of physical prowess and display of it since the dawn of the business. Over the years, a lot has changed in the scenario, and now several superstars are getting into the business with diverse backgrounds. WWE Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes recently spoke about the the burning issue of body shaming that has been visible on television across promotion. The superstar shared that he does entirely not oppose body shaming in the business.

The superstar has forged himself to be on the top of the ladder of one of the biggest promotions in the business— WWE. In a recent interview with Flagrant podcast, the 39 year old shared that he does not mind-body shaming as it is undoubtedly a “vanity business.”
“This is a vanity business. There’s this weird online contingent that doesn’t realize how important that [physique] is,” Rhodes said in the podcast. The superstar believes that going to the gym and maintaining the physique are the bare minimum criteria of a pro wrestler as most superstars wrestle without their shirts on, “We’re wrestling with our shirt off, folks, it’s ok to go the gym…and you hear fans be like “you can’t body shame wrestlers,” he continued.
Rhodes further added that he would not be offended by any body shaming remarks from fans and justified why he does not mind the same in the business, “and you hear fans be like ‘you can’t body shame wrestlers’ – what are you talking about? We’re standing there half naked and you’re paying hundreds of dollars to see us. Body shame me all you want.”
Of course, not every superstar would agree with Rhodes’ remark but in his purview, it has been a game of physique. However, the scenario has changed compared to the history of pro wrestling. As for Rhodes, the 6 feet 2 in (188 cm) tall star weighs 220 pounds.
Rhodes is set to square off with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in WWE’s upcoming PLE Crown Jewel in the highly anticipated Champion vs. Champion match.
