WWE in Unease? What Happens Now That AEW Ads Air During RAW?

In a surprising development, WWE programming now promotes its com... Read More
In an unexpected turn of events, WWE programming has become a place to promote AEW (All Elite Wrestling), as Tony Khan's company finds a new home while WWE is moving on to Netflix. AEW recently announced a new broadcasting deal with FOX Sports Mexico, which means that, for a few months, both AEW and WWE will be on the same channel. This unusual situation is raising questions in the wrestling world as the two rival promotions continue to find their way in a changing industry.

Let's Take a Look at AEW's Deal with Fox and WWE's Move to Netflix

The rumored deal between AEW and Fox is said to be a multi-year agreement that will allow FOX Sports Mexico to show all AEW programming. They will also launch a new show called the “All Elite Show,” which will air on Monday nights. Interestingly, this means AEW and WWE will be on the same channel for at least a few months.

WWE is set to move all its programming to Netflix in January 2025. For now, WWE will have to accept that AEW shows will be advertised during RAW.

Recently, While talking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that AEW had a lead-in from WWE with RAW on October 14th and shared why WWE is likely not very pleased about this situation.

Dave Meltzer Stated :

“The first FOX Mexico show was the pay-per-view (WrestleDream) on Saturday night. Tonight was the interesting one because WWE is still on FOX Sports Mexico until the end of the year when the Netflix (deal) goes into effect. AEW started Saturday night so their shows are on too, they’ve got both companies on.

So during Raw tonight every break or at least most of the breaks, they had commercials for AEW and I’m sure WWE must love this. Then right after Raw ended they had an AEW news show with a Raw lead-in. WWE didn’t have exclusivity on this station, the station knows they’re leaving and from a station standpoint isn’t the smartest thing you could do is promote the hell out of the new company during Raw and probably SmackDown? Probably that’s the way to do it. I don’t think WWE is particularly thrilled tonight when it comes to that stuff. (Via Wrestling Observer Radio/TJR Wrestling)

Let’s see what happens next in this situation. It’s still uncertain whether AEW will finalize the rumored deal with FOX in the U.S. Meanwhile, WWE is preparing for its transition to Netflix, with more details emerging about its shows, including RAW, SmackDown, and NXT.
