WWE Raw (8/19): Number One Contender’s Tournament for the Intercontinental Title Officially Announced

This Monday night on Raw, it was officially announced that a number one contender tournament will begin next week, with the winner earning a shot at the Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker. During the segment, Breakker mentioned that WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce had organized the tournament to determine his next challenger. While the tournament is confirmed, the participants have not all been announced yet, with Jey Uso being the only confirmed participant so far.

Number One Contender’s Tournament for the Intercontinental Title

Bron Breakker, the current Intercontinental Champion, is set to face the winner of the upcoming tournament. After defeating Sami Zayn, Breakker's confidence has surged, and he believes his title reign will be nothing short of spectacular. He is eager for tough competition and is not afraid to face the top contenders on the current roster.

As for the tournament, it is scheduled to begin next week to determine the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship. The tournament will kick off on Raw before Bash in Berlin. Given the tight timeline, it's unlikely that Breakker's next opponent will be determined before the Germany-based event. So far, only one participant, Jey Uso, has been confirmed. In a backstage interview, Jey expressed his confidence in winning the tournament and challenging Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental title.



Bron Breakker has made a strong statement by defeating Sami Zayn not just once, but twice. The first victory came at this year’s SummerSlam, where he claimed the Intercontinental Championship. He then solidified his dominance by defeating Zayn again in a two-out-of-three falls match on the August 12 edition of WWE Raw, successfully retaining his title. Overcoming a top superstar twice is no small feat, and Bron has proven he’s more than deserving of the Intercontinental Title. After taking down one of the best in the current roster, it’ll be exciting to see who he faces next.

Bron Breakker, a second-generation professional wrestler, previously competed on the NXT brand, where he became a two-time NXT Champion and a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion. The current Intercontinental Champion, and fan favorite superstar Bron Breakker is also the son of Rick Steiner and the nephew of Scott Steiner.
