Last night on WWE Raw, former WWE World Champion Sheamus was announced to have been selected as the “Celebrity Guest Picker” for ‘ESPN College GameDay’, this Saturday in Ireland. Along with Sheamus, dynamic commentator Pat Mcafee will also be present as the announcer, at the College GameDay, live from Dublin, this Saturday at 9:00AM ET.

Reportedly Pat Mcafee had earlier announced that he will be taking a break from WWE Raw, as he has committed to be a part of the College ESPN GameDay broadcaster’s team in Ireland. Following that, he also announced that he will come back to the WWE commentary team in January 2025, during an unaired segment on RAW last night, where he also made the Sheamus announcement. He will be gone from WWE for roughly 4 months. It was announced by Michael Cole and then was agreed on by Pat, during the non-televised part of the show. In the same segment, Mcafee thanked the WWE universe and bid them a temporary farewell, while standing on the announcer’s table in his signature style.

Now, the Celtic Warrior Sheamus has also been selected for the College GameDay although as the Celebrity Guest Picker, for the event that is set to take place at Dublin, Ireland. Sheamus is a four time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, also having won the 2010 King of the Ring tournament. He has won the United States Championship twice and was the winner of the 2012 Royal Rumble match too. He has a unique feat to his name as he beat Daniel Bryan in 18 seconds at WrestleMania 2012, for the World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus returned to WWE earlier this year, after a long sabbatical from the ring, due to a lethal injury. He is one of the most popular superstars in WWE currently, who enjoys a massive fan following all over the world.

The fact that Sheamus belongs from Ireland adds all the more excitement to the prospect of him being selected as the ‘Celebrity Guest Picker’ for the College GameDay. This is a sort of a collaboration between WWE and ESPN College GameDay, in order to maximize the popularity and also generate a new fanbase for both the sports. As we all know, WWE is very popular all around the globe and in Europe it has a special fanbase, which was evident in WWE’s recent UK Tours and this partnership is going to solidify that fandom.
