WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther reveals factors behind his successful character

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther has solidified his place among the greatest WWE wrestlers of all time. After winning the 2024 King of the Ring tournament, he earned the opportunity to challenge Damian Priest at SummerSlam. Gunther emerged victorious, becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion, and now he's set to face The Viper, Randy Orton, at Bash in Berlin. In a recent interview with Hall of Fame, The Ring General emphasized the importance of getting fan reactions and making his persona feel authentic. He stated, "I mean it's 2024, now everybody knows what we do is scripted, it's sports entertainment. But I always wanted to make it my goal when I walk to the ring that the people's reaction is like, 'Okay, now it's getting real, like now we're in for something special,'" said Gunther. "And I always try to get the people to forget about the fact that what we do is entertainment and just be in the moment and make them feel for my opponent and that's what I'm always aiming for. He acknowledged, however, that it has become increasingly challenging to be convincing in front of an audience because they are aware that the sport is scripted. Gunther also mentioned that he’s not fond of social media and prefers to keep most of his personal life private. Still, he recognizes that fan interaction, character development, and self-promotion often take place online.

Gunther, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, is currently involved in a storyline with 14-time World Champion Randy Orton.
