WWE NXT news: Chase U are now the new NXT Tag Team champions

Axiom and Nathan Frazer took down MSK consisting of Wes Lee and Zach Wentz just a few nights ago during the Great American Bash. Their title defense was so soul crushing for MSK and especially Wes Lee that he ended up turning heel right after the match concluded and attacked his teammates.

Axiom and Nathan Frazer on the other hand were not bothered. They had just beaten a formidable opponent and had already been set up to take on another. Just a week after their match against MSK, Axiom and Frazer had to defend their title against Chase U and things didn't go as planned. Let’s take a look at how the match unfolded.

Chase U defeat Axiom and Nathan Frazer to become the NXT Tag Team Champions

The match started with Andre Chase and Axiom in the middle of the ring. The two put together a fairly equal exchange. Chase did better than what was expected of him and even managed to hold his own against Axiom. However, unable to overpower Axiom, Andre had to tag in Ridge Holland.

Holland came into the ring with a chip on his shoulder. From the way he started the match you could tell that he was not ready to lose tonight. Ridge started with a bunch of clotheslines but Frazer and Axiom recovered and were able to throw both Chase U members out of the ring. They followed this ring out with a splash through the ropes.

When the match resumed, Frazer and Andre Chase were in the ring. Both stars managed to clothesline each other and had to tag out to recover. Andre was quick to get to Holland, and he came in ready to win the match. Ridge slammed both Axiom and Frazer and even managed to land a DDT.


However, Axiom was not ready to give up and kicked out before the three-count. Axiom got up and managed to put Holland to the ground with a kick to the face. He then combined with Frazer to land two splashes in a row, but this wasn’t enough to keep Ridge out of the fight. Holland got up and combined with Andre Chase for a devastating finisher.

Andre then tried to pin Axiom, and Nathan Frazer came to his partner’s rescue. Now, Axiom and Frazer were able to get back into the match by landing their own tag team finisher on Andre Chase, but even he refused to stay down for long. After Chase got up, he brought Holland into the ring.

Unfortunately, Axiom was able to outsmart Ridge and trapped him on the top of the ropes for a Super Spanish Fly. But this alone was not enough to keep Holland down. Ridge got up, retaliated and landed one final slam on Axiom. Holland got on top of Axiom for the pin and held him down to become the new NXT Tag Team champion. An entertaining match with an epic conclusion. Hopefully, Chase U can maintain the quality and momentum they displayed tonight. If not, their championship reign will prove to be rough.
