Joe Hendry took the stage on tonight’s episode of NXT ahead of his championship match against Ethan Page. Hendry will be facing Ethan at No Mercy in what could prove to be a career defining moment for him. Tonight, Joe decided to put on a show and held a concert where he performed a song meant to tear Ethan Page down.

Everything was going smoothly for Hendry, who had the crowd singing along to his lyrics. Ethan Page showed up and tried to shut things down, but the fans were able to get under his skin by repeatedly singing the lyrics to Hendry’s song. Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse for Page, NXT GM Ava showed up and announced that Trick Williams would be the special guest referee for Page and Hendry’s match at No Mercy.

Upon hearing this announcement, Ethan lost his cool and tried to take out Hendry. But, Joe dodged and hit Page with a Standing Ovation before pinning him while Trick Williams kept the count. It seems like Hendry and Williams have already given us a glimpse of what we can expect from No Mercy.

Will Ethan Page’s championship reign end at NXT No Mercy?

Ethan Page literally fell into the NXT Championship belt at NXT Heatwave. Williams was the champ at the time, and he was taking on Shawn Spears, Je’Von Evans, and Ethan Page in a fatal four-way way for his belt. Trick held his own and hit both Evans and Page with a Trickshot. Unfortunately for him, the effects of his Trickshot caused Page to fall on top of Je’Von which led to Ethan winning the NXT Championship belt via pinfall.

Now, Williams will act as the special guest referee for Ethan Page vs. Joe Hendry. The TNA star has already proven himself to be worthy of the title. Hendry can electrify crowds, is loved by the fans, and is capable of putting on some spectacular performances in the ring. From the looks of it, No Mercy is going to be quite a test for Ethan Page.

If somehow Page is able to overcome Hendry, he will still struggle to win unless Trick Williams lets him. On the other hand, if and when Hendry is able to land a meaningful strike, Williams will likely make it easy for him to get the three count and win via pinfall. Trick’s involvement is pretty much karma for the way Page acted during last week’s episode of NXT.

Joe Hendry was facing off against Wes Lee and Pete Dunne for a shot at Page’s belt. Hendry was close to winning the match on his own, but an interference from Page held him back. Luckily, Trick Williams was around, and he showed up to help Hendry advance and become the No. 1 contender for the NXT Championship.

Now, it seems like Page’s own actions will become his undoing at No Mercy. Ethan Page finds himself in a tough spot, it’ll be interesting to see how he tries to balance the scales this Sunday.
