It is all about celebrating technology India creates, says Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella
"We are creating a canvas for future apps and it will be a game changer," said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella delivering keynote at the company's 'Tech For Good, Ideas for India' event. Expressing his desire to help empower India, Nadella quoted poet Mirza Ghalib's famous lines, "Hazaaron khwahishen aisi ke har khwahish pe dam nikle, Bahut niklay mere armaan, lekin phir bhi kam nikle."
The lines received strong applause from the audience.
"When you change the way you see the world, you change the world you see," said Nadella.
Talking about the importance of innovation in the country, Microsoft CEO said, "I want us to be the platform to foster the ingenuity of the people of India."
"It is not about celebrating our own technology, it is about celebrating the technology that India creates," he added addressing an audience that comprised students, young achievers, developers and entrepreneurs.
Earlier in the day Nadella met telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and discussed about enhancing Microsoft's contribution to the government's Digital India initiative. "CEO @Microsoft @satyanadella met me today. Discussed in enhancing cooperation with Microsoft towards @_DigitalIndia," tweeted the minister.
This is Nadella's third visit to the country since he took over as Microsoft CEO in February 2014.
Later in the day, Hyderabad-born Nadella is expected to attend a session with some 100-150 top executives of corporate India. The event is being organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). It will be an hour-long interactive session with industry executives. Microsoft CEO is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
