Dell launches new XPS 13 laptop, price starts at $599 for students

Dell Technologies has announced a new version of its XPS 13 laptop, introducing what the company calls its most affordable XPS model yet. The new laptop is aimed at students and young professionals who want a lightweight and premium device at a lower price point. In the official announcement, Dell said the launch follows a commitment it made earlier this year to compete across different consumer price segments while maintaining the design and features associated with the XPS brand. Dell’s new XPS 13 with Intel Core Series 3 processors will be available soon in the United States. As announced by the company, price of the XPS 13 laptop will start at $599 for eligible students aged 16 and above during the back-to-school season. For other buyers, the starting price will be $699.The company also confirmed that a version powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors will be available later this summer. The Storm color option will also arrive at a later date.Dell said the new XPS 13 is the thinnest and lightest XPS laptop it has ever made. The device measures 12.7mm thick and weighs 1kg. The laptop comes with a 13-inch 2.5K touch display that covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. It also supports a variable refresh rate between 30Hz and 120Hz, which Dell says helps balance smooth visuals and battery life.Standard features on all models include a backlit keyboard, Intel Wi-Fi 7, Windows Hello support, quad speakers and USB-C connectivity. Dell XPS 13 can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 1TB of storage. The chassis is made from aluminum and will be available in two finishes, Sky and Storm. Dell said the laptop uses a dual-fan thermal system designed to keep it cool and quiet during heavy workloads.
