Union Minister Giriraj Singh has said that no attack took place on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, adding that if people showed black flags it reflected public anger and not an assault, and questioned how it could be called an attack without injuries. West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul termed the incident as public anger and claimed arrested attackers were linked to an ex-TMC MLA’s camp, while accusing the ruling party of corruption and misgovernance. BJP spokesperson Keya Ghosh said police deployment for MPs is excessive and stressed that law and order duties must be maintained by police. BJP MP Rahul Sinha also called the incident public outrage and referred to past violence against BJP leaders in West Bengal.
