Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now clarified that his trading activity stating that he has not sold any Tesla shares in the past three years. Instead the fillings how that he has been buying more of the EV giant’s stock. In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) Musk responded to a now-deleted post bu influencer Mario Nawfal and wrote, “I haven’t sold stock for about 3 years. Bought a billion dollars of Tesla stock last year.”
A review of the SEC filings support Musk’s statement. Tesla CEO purchased over 2.57 million Tesla shares in 2025 which nearly value $1 billion, at an average price of $389 per share. His last major sale of Tesla stock was back in 2022 — more than three years ago.
This disclosure comes at a time when Tesla has announced the opening of a new lithium refinery in the US described by Musk as the largest in North America. The facility will process spodumene ore into lithium oxide, a critical material for EV batteries and Tesla’s growing energy storage business.
“Meanwhile Elon is personally partially responsible for now DECELERATING the transition to sustainable transportation and energy, at least in the US." - I think this capsulizes many people's thoughts on tesla/elon. $tsla,” wrote Gerber.
He also feels that the political ties of Elon Musk have contributed to the rollback pf EV momentum in the US.

Tesla Bull and investor Ross Gerber is once again criticising Tesla CEO Elon Musk. This time Gerber has targeted the close relationship between Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump.
