Galgotias University is facing backlash after a viral video from the India AI Impact Summit 2026 depicted the company showcasing a China-made robotic dog as a product developed by the university's Centre of Excellence. While the university has clarified that it never claimed that it developed the robot, another video of Professor of Galgotias University Neha Singh introducing the robot as ‘Orion’ has gone viral. The robot in question is Unitree’s Go 2. Here’s everything you need to know about the Chinese robot that greater Noida-based Galgotias University showcased as it own.
The Unitree Go2 is the company’s updated intelligent bionic quadruped robot, designed with a focus on mobility, perception, and interaction. The robot is equipped with a Super Recognition System that supports precise environmental awareness and navigation.
Unitree Go2 uses a 4D LiDAR L2 sensor to detect its surroundings, allowing it to accurately capture and map the three-dimensional environment in real time. In terms of performance, the robot is claimed to reach a maximum running speed of around 5 metres per second, based on laboratory testing. Its joints deliver a peak torque of approximately 45 newton metres, supporting stable movement and agile actions.
The robot supports multiple connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and 4G, enabling remote control, updates, and interaction through connected devices. Unitree Go2 offers an estimated battery life of two to four hours, depending on usage, with endurance measured under real-world conditions.
Unitree has also included an Intelligent Side-follow System (ISS 2.0), allowing the robot to follow its user smoothly during movement. For interaction, the robot works with a dedicated mobile app that enables users to control functions and engage with the robot’s features.
As per Unitree's official website the Unitree Go2 robot is available at around Rs 3 lakh in Indian currency.
