Zomato expands its ‘paid super fast’ food delivery service to three more cities: What is it

Zomato has expanded the ‘priority food delivery service’ to three more cities. The company piloted the ‘paid super fast’ delivery service in parts of Mumbai and Bengaluru. The online food delivery company is also said to be working on various other services.According to reports, Zomato has started its ‘priority food delivery service’ in Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune. Some members of The Times of India team are also seeing the “Priority” option alongside the “Standard” delivery option on the app.Zomato’s biggest rival, Swiggy, had last year introduced a similar priority delivery service.As per a previous report by Moneycontrol, in Priority delivery, users may get their food delivered up to 5 minutes faster compared to standard delivery. Except one, the TOI Tech team members didn’t particularly see any reduction in food delivery timing when opting for “Priority” delivery. For the service, the company is charging Rs 19 to Rs 29 per order. The same price is being charged from priority deliveries from ‘Zomato Gold’ users, who pay for the membership to get benefits such as discounts and free delivery.Zomato has also increased its platform fee to Rs 5 per order from Rs 4 earlier.The development comes at a time when reports suggest that Zomato has been experimenting with a variety of new offerings to increase revenue. It is said to be testing last-mile delivery services for office workers in corporate parks.Earlier this year, the online food delivery company introduced an all-electric “large order fleet” to deliver large orders for up to 50 people at once.
