As a teary-eyed Kapoor looked on, Padukone said, “When Boney ji asked me to release the book on Sridevi ma’am, I agreed immediately. They rooted for me since the time I first entered Bollywood in 2007, sending me personal notes for every film they watched. And I knew when the note came along that I was winning an award.”

Describing Sridevi as the only female superstar India has produced, Nayak, Sridevi’s biographer said he decided to work on Sridevi’s biography when he realised there was no good book that covered fully her work in the Indian film industry.

“I was appalled that there was no good book on Sridevi. After she passed, my friend said that I owed it to her to complete the book. The only difference would be that there the book now has a final chapter,” Nayak said, adding his deep research on the film ‘Diva’ led him to travel across regions and languages to meet with Sridevi’s co-stars and the people she worked with in the film industry.

Film director Gauri Shinde, who “re-launched” Sridevi in the 2012 hit ‘
