A political storm erupted in Assam in the final days before the Assembly elections, after the Congress trained its fire on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife — setting off a feud that shows little sign of easing.
Polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies was held on April 9.

At the centre of the controversy are allegations that Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, a businesswoman, holds offshore assets and possesses multiple foreign passports. Indian law bars dual citizenship.
