Elated after receiving the prestigious award, the star weightlifter said: “I am really privileged and honoured to receive this award. I am heartily thankful to Times of India for giving me this award. This is my second TOISA award. I am thankful to my federation and fans for supporting me".

Sathish had won gold medals in his back-to-back Commonwealth Games appearances - in 2014 in Glasgow and 2018 in the Gold Coast. He claimed the top honours in 77kg category in both editions.

At the 2018 CWG, the 27-year-old lifted 144 kg in snatch and 173 kg in clean and jerk.
