Three men on a motorcycle assaulted two pedestrians and robbed a cellphone worth Rs5,000 from one of them near Somatane phata late on Monday night.

A 27-year-old electrician waiting in front of an elevator on the premises of his residential society was beaten and robbed of his cellphone worth Rs10,000 by a group of four unknown people. The incident is reported to have taken place in the Talegaon Dabhade area early on Wednesday evening.

A team of policemen from Laalbagh police station of Burhanpur district arrested a retired bank manager from Indore in relation to embezzlement of public money. The police arrested the accused Rajendra Kumar Pandey from his residence in Indore, said an official communique. The accused worked at Narmada Jhabua bank’s main branch in Burhanpur.
