Antico Arco’s cooking credentials were forged in the white hot passion for food and wine of its three founders. The chef has a gastronome’s dedication to fine fresh ingredients and creates wonderful homemade dishes such as pigeon breasts with black truffle, and spaghetti with swordfish and a pesto sauce made with citrus and almond. The portions are not large, but they are very creative and above all delicious.
Named after one of the gates of early medieval Rome, the restaurant attracts a young hip crowd, including many couples who hang out in the wine bar. Wine is something of a speciality here as the extensive—cellar which is in the fourth century AD catacombs of San Pancrazio—holds 20,000 bottles.
