With the opening of Lustre Pearl in 2009, entrepreneur Bridget Dunlap began the transformation of Rainey Street from a sleepy residential block into an entertainment district. The house was originally built in 1907, and Dunlap decided to preserve its 'lovely scars', fixing it up just enough to have a functional bar. The chipping plaster and peeling paint are oddly comforting reminders of the house's long life as a home. Read less
