The Temple of Heaven is surrounded by a large park on all the sides. The dense foliage of the park is lined by walkways or trails. This is where you can spot Chinese indulging in their fitness routine—walking, jogging, dancing or performing strange exercises. The park is a playground for Tai Chi practitioners who come here in large groups and perform rhythmic exercises. The ancient surroundings are believed to be pouring blessings and Tai Chi emphasises on attracting Qi (energy) from the surroundings. Morning is the best time to come here and watch people in action. Join the locals by participating in Tai Chi workshops or just observe them engrossed in their practice, the best way to learn about the local culture!
