Kafe Batan Waru makes a perfect blend of traditional and modern cuisine. The ayam rica rica, beef rendang curry and seafood dishes are great. The restaurant is especially busy on Tuesdays, when it hosts its popular and famous chilli crab night. Kafe Batan Waru is also a great place for those with a sweet tooth as they serve some amazing traditional Balinese desserts including burbur injin (a sweet black rice pudding).
This place is loved by locals, expats and tourists and is a great place to go if someone in your group wants to try Balinese food, whilst others are happy to stick to tried and tested international favourites. Recently, they have also opened up a new restaurant in Ubud on Dewi Sita Street.
