The 17 temples overlook a water tank dating back to the 14th century - according to Hindu legend, Lord Ram created the underwater spring feeding the tank by piercing the earth with his arrow.
Believed to be an offshoot of the Ganges, the waters in Banganga tank are considered holy and visitors can witness bathing pilgrims testing its so-called healing properties. Speckled with old dharamsalas (pilgrim rest houses) and perfumed by incense, this area is perfect place to escape the cacophony of Mumbai.
The Banganga Tank and temple complex is a 10-minute walk from Walkeshwar Bus Depot on Malabar Hill.
