Shopping in Bangkok is whirlwind experience for even the most hardcore shopaholics. After all, this is a city that never sleeps! Whether you want to window shop to your heart’s content or spend oodles of cash on luxury items, there’s something or the other to please you. Unique antique markets, local boutiques and upscale stores will inspire passion in any fashionista or culture vulture. While Bangkok’s numerous sky high malls tend to attract the most attention, there’s a lot more to Bangkok’s shopping scene than these giant towers of commerce and consumption (though we love a good mall as much as anyone!).
Look a little closer and you’ll find that much of Bangkok’s charm exists in its smaller boutiques and the up-and-coming designer brands helmed by the current wave of talented Thai designers. Because just like the city’s distinct selection of food, architecture and art, the shopping scene here tells an important story about Bangkokian culture and its ever-expanding influence in the global market. So put on your best pair of comfy walking shoes and hit the road Thai-style to discover some of Bangkok’s swankiest luxury shopping.
