Assam Government will be developing around 316 tourist spots in the state in a move to promote tourism in the region. As per the latest news reports, Managing Director of Assam Tourism Development Corporation Bhaskar Phukan informed that INR 150 crore will be infused to develop these locations under the scheme called Axom Darshan. While speaking on a talk show, he also mentioned that all those spots will have toilets, clean drinking water, and waiting shades to ensure tourists have a great time. He added that since river tourism in one of the most sought-after sectors in this region, there are plans to use the mighty Brahmaputra river for it. This will also help generate employment opportunities for the locals, and in turn, contribute to the development of the region. The minister further mentioned that training will be imparted to those willing to get involved in skill development too.
