As Belgium comes out from lockdown, and starts to think about the travel industry, a list of new measures have been taken by the government in order to boost the industry. As of now, as international travel is limited, the authorities in Belgium want to focus on domestic tourism. So, Belgium locals can benefit from them.
Belgium had previously announced 10 free tickets for every Belgium citizen as a way to boost the economy, and to restart the tourism industry. Other measures include reduction in sales tax for the hospitality sector, and even a higher welfare payment.
The cafes, bars, and restaurants of the country began to reopen on June 8, but not without social distancing norms. So patrons must maintain a distance of 1.5 m between each other. Moreover, shops and businesses in Belgium must shut down by 1 AM, and no more than that. So, as of now, there is a bit of tourism happening in the country as tourists are coming in, and hotels are opening up. Belgium has also permitted travel within the European Union, as of June 15.
It has been reported that other countries such as Japan, and New Zealand are also coming up with such plans that would allow the economy to get a boost.
