One of the most prominent and beautiful buildings in KL is the National Mosque, or Masjid Negara, a 49-domed place of worship with a 73-metre-tall minaret. The iconic building also features a bright blue main roof shaped like a semi-opened umbrella.
Non-believers need not be intimidated by the religious air: people here are happy to accommodate visitors, as long as you follow a few simple rules. Guests are required to take off their shoes (but not socks), women's heads should be covered, and no skin should be exposed other than the face, hands and feet. Special robes are available for those who are not suitably attired. Non-Muslims are not allowed in the prayer area, but photos are permitted elsewhere.
