The world’s tallest statue, Statue of Unity based in India, has been selected as the nation’s wonder monument. Reportedly, the new title was bestowed on the monument in an ongoing tourism campaign. According to the news reports, Statue of Unity was one of the entries for Eight Wonders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), which is an eight-member China-led security bloc, by India after the PMO granted its approval for its nomination.
The statue is 579 feet high and is located on a river island in the Narmada River region, next to the Sardar Sarovar Dam in the now-famous Kevadia Colony of Gujarat. It is one gigantic figure of the late Deputy PM of India, a national freedom fighter and statesman Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
