Chandigarh set to get a new party boat at Sukhna Lake soon

Chandigarh is set to get a new party venue soon at Sukhna Lake. As per the latest news reports, Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) is planning to introduce a new 80-seater battery/solar operated party boat at the lake.
Referring to this development, CITCO Managing Director Jasvinder Kaur said that a new luxury cruise will be launched within three to four months, and that a tender for the cruise would be floated soon. Apart from this, the CITCO is also planning to purchase four new shikaras (houseboats) from Jammu and Kashmir. Reportedly, the CITCO management has already written to the authorities of J&K seeking permission to purchase and transport these houseboats.

CITCO Chief Geberal Manager said that it will be the first time that such a luxury party boat will be operating on Sukhna Lake, and that it is expected to boost the city’s tourism. Although fares are expected to be normal, nothing has been finalised yet.
A senior CITCO official, referring to this tourism expansion, said that the agency in charge will provide a brand new party boat with terrace. The boat will be eco-friendly and also have lighting arrangement for operations during night. It will also be the responsibility of the said agency to keep the boat in running condition all the times.
Reports state that the boat can be used for hosting small party and other occasions, for which the agency will be fixing an amount for one/two hours. The arrangements will be looked after by officials authorised by CITCO, whereas eatables will be supplied by the CITCO. And the timing for ferrying party boat will be fixed by the Lakewiew authorities.
