Chernobyl’s story is a story of destruction and rebirth. In April 1986, when the No. 4 nuclear reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant exploded, it killed the life of this city and everything that it touched. For years since, we have been seeing images of abandoned homes and listening to stories of survivors. But nature has her way, and Chernobyl is slowly transforming into an ecological haven now, and could be a magical place in the years to come.
Eco-tours for tourists
The idea for the Chernobyl eco-tourism is to show visitors how nature works, and what it can do in the absence of humans. The APB-Birdlife Belarus group claims that this area is the closest thing to true wilderness in Europe.
These visits are safe for visitors as they last only for a limited period of time, and are undertaken with strict safety procedures in place.
