Located just 15 minutes southwest of the city, Devoian Botanic Gardens is located at the University of Alberta, and offers over 240 acres of stunning trails, gardens, plants, flowers and more. It is the perfect summer destination when you feel like getting out of the city and into the country. It is open daily during the summer from 10am-5pm, although on Thursdays the gardens stay open until dusk with the last admission at 8:30pm. It only costs about $14 to visit and is definitely worth it. We suggest spending the entire day here to take in all that is there to see, and make sure you don’t miss out on the Kurimoto Japanese Garden and the Indoor Showhouses. A great option is to take the 45-minute guided Tram Tour of the Main Garden which stops for you to look at many of the different flowers. Other popular things to explore here include the alpine garden, vegetable and fruit gardens, rose collection, and lilac and peony collections. The outdoor patio café offers food and beverages adjacent to a lovely patio surrounded by plants and flowers. Visit here and make sure to stop and smell the flowers in the summertime in Edmonton.
