The self-governing Isle of Man has close to a hundred miles of coastline and therefore, is home to a number of spectacular beaches. While the beach guide states that there are 24 beaches, some of the most popular ones are the Chapel Beach, Peel Beach, Castletown Beach and Kirk Michael Beach. Situated in front of the small Manx town of Port St Mary, the Chapel Beach with its gentle sand and pristine waters has a promenade coupled with facilities for a number of activities like windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking etc. Visiting the Broadway Beach and promenade in the capital city of Douglas is a great option to unwind while watching the glistening blue waters move back and forth foaming against the rocks. A beautiful promenade (known as the Douglas promenade) is built along the entire length of the beach and is an ideal place to sit down and soak in the beauty of the virgin waters. There are horse-drawn trams that run along the promenade from the Sea Terminal to the Manx Electric Railway Station during the season. Do not forget to buy the famous ice creams at the beach facing cafes to make your experience all the more enjoyable!
