When the famous Raat ka Nasha song from Hindi movie, Asoka, released, the world knew that Kareena Kapoor has arrived. But, of course, a few of us sat gaping at the backdrop against which the actor was dancing! Yes, that backdrop is very much real and the setting is world-famous Bhedaghat Marble Rocks.
River Narmada has cut through giant marble rocks to create a stunning 8 km gorge here, and the sight is just breathtaking. This one is not to be missed.

Orchha is one of the most historically significant cities of Madhya Pradesh. It sits by River Betwa and stands as a witness to the trajectory of the Bundela dynasty. Come sunset and the river water turns golden. Definitely a spot to fall in love with.

This hill fort in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior has been guarding the city from at least the 10th century. Some estimates also trace its origins to the 6th century, and it is believed to be one of the most impenetrable forts in the country. Walk all the way to its top and you will have stunning views all around.

This ancient caves belong to the Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods and are set in the foothills of Vindhya mountains. The insides of these caves are adorned with paintings that go back as far as 8,000 BC, and are the earliest evidences of human life in India. A surreal place, these should not be missed.

This brilliant piece of architecture was made on orders of Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din-Khalji, and served as a harem. It is set between two artificial lakes, thus deriving its name, Jahaz Mahal, from its shape and settings as a ship. The architecture and design here will leave you awed for sure.

Kanha National Park is just the place for you if you are into wildlife. It's famous for its tiger sightings as well as barasingha population, with humongous conservation efforts put for the latter. These are the forests that also inspired Rudyard Kipling for The Jungle Book, so you can very well imagine the splendour of the forests here.

The stunning Khajuraho Group of Monuments are also a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. These were built during the Chandela dynasty, and are famous for their erotic sculptures. But, there is much more than just those sculptures here, for the sheer designs are inspiring.

Sights like these are a regular affair at Madhya Pradesh's Pench Tiger Reserve, so make sure you have your camera ready to go here. Or, for better, get a pair of binoculars and soak in the sights and sounds of this beautiful forest.

This is the famous Sanchi Stupa and is one of the oldest stone structures in India. It is a part of the Buddhist complex here, and was commissioned by Mauryan Emperor Ashoka. Other than its monumental value, it is also an important place of interest for Buddhists.
