According to news reports, the famous Khajjiar lake in the town was the area of concern due to its polluted waters and surroundings. To restore the beauty of the lake, the Himachal Pradesh Government has allocated funds to the forest and wildlife department. Lately, the authorities have been busy finalising the formalities related to the process of floating tender so as to begin work for cleaning up the lake.
The lake in Khajjiar has been an abode of beauty. But, since it remained neglected by the forest authorities for a long time, a lot of silt has got deposited at the bed of the lake, thus, bringing it to the point of extinction. The authorities will start desilting the lake, and once that gets done, efforts will be made to beautify the Khajjiar region.
Khajjiar, the beauty of Himachal Pradesh, is a gem in the crown of the state. The state’s deodar trees and abundant greenery are one of the reasons why it is also called the Switzerland of India.
