The Golden Temple has recently been declared the most visited place in the world. The glorious declaration came after London based organisation, World Book of Records verified this record. The award was handed to the Shriomani Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee (SPGC) Chief Secretary Roop Singh by the India chapter of World Book of Records.

The devotees coming to Golden Temple Amritsar are often awestruck by its beauty, and even more by the devotion and love of the Sikhs. Construction of the Golden Temple was initiated in 1581, and it took 8 years to complete the first version of Sri Harmandir Sahib. The temple offers langar, wherein numerous people are fed every day. In this regard, everyone is treated as an equal, so visitors sit on the floor and are served vegetarian food irrespective of their religion or caste. The meals are provided round the clock and the service is like no other. The award could now increase the footfall even more than before.
