Weather in Delhi-NCR is getting all romantic as monsoon finally arrives here. Monday saw the city sky turn dark and cloudy, and there were strong dust winds accompanied by rain. As per the reports, light showers in Delhi-NCR have been predicted until Thursday. Monsoon rain comes as a huge relief for the city that was battling with heat for a long time.
According to a statement by the Indian Meteorological Department, “the city is likely to receive light rain till Thursday.”
Further reports suggest that the winds have changed to easterly in Delhi-NCR, and this means that the weather is likely to change, and rains will continue. The intensity of rain in Delhi-NCR is expected to gradually increase. This year, Delhi did not get the desired rainfall that it does in the months of June and July, and this is due to the delay in the southwest monsoon. The late arrival of rain also caused a decline in Delhi-NCR’s water table.
Meanwhile, two flights had been diverted from the Delhi airport due to rain and wind on Monday evening. The two flights had gotten diverted to Lucknow airport. There has also been a prediction of widespread rainfall for Assam and Meghalaya for the next 24 hours.
