The hailstones not only hit the people but also broke through windows and car windscreens. It also caused damage to the car roofs in Pescara and other civilian property.
The city of Pescara was flooded by heavy rain after the unexpected shower of hailstones. Reportedly, many people made a narrow escape from their cars, which were swept away by the flood waters.
Pescara is a port city in Abruzzo, is highly populated and known for culture, traditions, agricultural markets and port-fishing boats. Owing to its seaside location, it has a sought-after seaside resort and important touristic ports of the Adriatic Sea. The major tourist points of interest in Pescara are the Cathedral of Saint Cetteo and Borbonic Bath.
