On the Caribbean side of Nicaragua lies two of the country’s hidden gems, Big Corn Island and Little Corn Island. It is here where you will find the best snorkelling in the country, a laid-back lifestyle and friendly people. As the name suggests, Big Corn is the bigger island of the two and is home to a bigger population, an airport and more places to stay, eat and drink. Don’t miss out on Sunday night baseball games where you can head to ‘Island Style’ later to dance the night away with the locals. One of the best places to stay on Big Corn is Casa Canada, a luxury getaway complete with infinity pool. True relaxation comes on Little Corn Island and to reach this island you must take a motorboat from Big Corn. Visitors here will be greeted to an island devoid of paved roads, cars and electricity for the most of the day. Expect beach bungalows, incredible diving, jungles and white sand beaches. The best two places on the island to stay are Derek’s Place and Little Corn Beach and Bungalow, both offering private beach cabanas and delicious restaurants. Don’t miss out on scuba diving and snorkelling while you are here on these amazing islands.
