Hogenakkal Falls and its many wonderful features that you need to explore
Hogenakkal Falls is one of the few major tourist attractions in India that falls right on the border of two or more states. In the case of Hogenakkal, it is located on the border of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu (46 km from Dharmapuri district). For those in Bengaluru, Hogenakkal is a great day trip as it is a short 4 hours journey from Bengaluru.
It is, however, a long distance away from Chennai, as the waterfall is approximately seven hours away from the city. But it doesn’t matter how you reach the falls, the important thing is that you do.
Here are some reasons why we think Hogenakkal Falls is a great holiday idea.
The waterfalls
Hogenakkal Falls is a series of waterfalls formed by the Kaveri river as it cascades down rocky terrain. The water plunges from a height and creates a spectacular sight, especially during the monsoon season when the river is at its full flow.
Therapeutic baths
The water at Hogenakkal Falls is believed to have medicinal properties. There is a designated spot for those who are interested in taking these baths. But you may very well expect the space to be crowded. Some say it’s the water and some believe it is the way the water hits you.
Boating and coracle rides
Those coracle rides do look extremely fun, don’t they? The boat person will take you near the waterfall and the journey to the waterfall is a very pretty one. These rides offer an up-close view of the falls.
Landscape
Hogenakkal is located in a lush green landscape surrounded by forests and rocky hills. The scenic beauty of the area adds to the charm of the falls, making it an ideal place for nature lovers and photographers.
Nature trails
The region around Hogenakkal Falls offers opportunities for trekking and nature trails. There are several trekking routes that take you through the beautiful countryside. The nearby villages are great if you want to see the cultural beauty of the place.
