Located close to the Lima city centre and right in the middle of Miraflores, lies this pre-Incan site. It offers a window through which you can take a peek into times long gone. This is an extraordinary site with pyramids, which were built with small bricks of clay—the fact that these pyramids are still standing strong, goes to prove the strength of ancient architectural skills. The art of brickwork at Huacas is impressive to say the least. There is a meagre entry fee to get in. Language is not a barrier here because English-speaking guides are widely available.
If all that exploring has left you with a rumbling tummy, sample the fare at The Huaca Pullana restaurant. Food is tasty and the experience of dining amidst these ruins is in itself a memorable one. Do remember to book in advance because it stays full on most days. So make sure you plan a day trip to Huacas while you are in Lima.
